Solution

(i)

(ii) Functions of b (inner ear): The inner ear helps to hear sounds and to maintain body balance.

Function of d (bone of skull): The bone of skull helps fix the position of the ears. This in turn helps the brain to use auditory cues to judge the direction of sounds and the distance from the source of sounds.

Function of g (Eustachian tube): The Eustachian tube helps to equalise air pressure in both sides of the tympanic membrane.

(iii) The ear is the sense organ for hearing and maintaining equilibrium. It consists of three portions – the external ear, middle ear and internal ear.

(iv) The stapes is the smallest bone in the human body.

(v) The labyrinth is the inner ear, which comprises the utriculus, sacculus, cochlea and three semi-circular canals.
