  1. This type of cell division occurs in Somatic cells.
  2. Somatic cells are any cells of the body except the reproductive cells such as sperm and egg cells. These cells are diploid cells means they contain two sets of chromosomes.
  3. Somatic cells takes a major part in the formation of body structure.
  4. Thus, it requires mitotic cell division which increases the number of diploid cells.
