Solution

Glycolysis is a sequence of reactions that metabolizes one molecule of glucose to two molecules of pyruvate along with net production of two molecules of ATP.IT has two phases preparatory and payoff phase. In the preparatory phase, the phosphorylation of glucose and its conversion to glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate with two ATP molecules Oxidative conversion of glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate to pyruvate and the coupled formation of ATP and NADH is featured of payoff phase.
Pyruvate is first decarboxylated and converted into acetyl CoA and acts as a fuel for TCA cycle. It is condensed with a four -carbon intermediate oxaloacetate to form citrate and to begin the 6 carbon stage.
