Question

The diameter and height of a right circular cylinders is 8.4 m and 3.5m, how many full bags of wheat can we empty into the drum , if the space required for each bag is 1.2m2 .

Open in App
Solution

Diameter of cylinder =8.4 m
so radius of cylinder=4.2m
Volume of cylinder=base area x height
Base area=πr^2
=π(4.2)^2
=3.14 x 17.64
= 55.39 m^2
So volume =55.39 x 3.5
=193.86 m^3
Space required for each bag=1.2 m^3

no of full bags of wheat that can be emptied
=(volume of cylinder ÷space for one bag)
=193.86÷1.2
=161.55 bags
That is 161 full bags can be emptied into the cylinder.
