The diameter of a roller is 84 cm and its length is 120 cm. It takes 500 complete revolutions to move once over to level a playground. What is the area of the playground in m2?

Given: Diameter of the roller =84 cm

Radius(r) =842=42 cm and length (h)=120 cm

Curved surface area of the cylindrical roller =2πrh

=2×227×42×120 cm2

=31680 cm2=3168010000 m2=3.168 m2 [1 m=100 cm ]

Area covered in 1 revolution = Curved surface area of the cylindrical roller =3.168 m2

Area covered in 500 complete revolutions =3.168×500 m2=1584 m2

Area of the playground = Area covered in 500 complete revolutions =1584 m2
