Question

The diameter of a wheel of a bus is 90 cm which makes 315 revolutions per minute. Determine it's speed in kilometers per hour.(Use π=22/7)

Open in App
Solution

The wheel makes (315X60=) 18900 revolutions per hour.

So, it completes one revolution in 1/18900 hours.

Distance in one revolution= 2 X 22/7 X 45/100000 km (r = 90/2 = 45cm = 45/100000 km)

So, speed = (2 X 22/7 X 45/100000 km) / (1/18900 hours)

=[(22 X 9 X 27) / 100 ]km/h

= 53.46 km/hr
