The diameter of the two circular plates is 10 cm and 24 cm respectively. What is the diameter of the plate which has an area equal to the combined area of the two given plates?

Let the diameter of the first circle be d1 and radius r1 and area is equal to A1.
d1=10 cm
r1=5 cm
A1=π(5)2
=25π cm2

Let the diameter of the first circle be d1 and radius r1 and area is equal to A1.
d2=24 cm
r2=12 cm
A2=π(12)2
=144π cm2

Let the radius of the plate whose area is A be r then,
A=A1+A2πr2=25π+144πr2=169r=13 cm
