Question

The diameter of the wheel of a car is 70 cm. How many revolutions will it make to travel 1.65 km?

Open in App
Solution

Let the radius of the wheel be (r)

Diameter of the wheel=70 cm

r=702 cm=35 cm

Circumference of the wheel =2πr

=2×227×35 cm

=2×22×5 cm

=220 cm

In one revolution, the wheel covers the distance equal to its circumference.

.220 cm distance =1 revolution

1 cm distance =1220 revolutions ---(1)

Since, 1 km=100000 cm

1.65 km=1.65×100000 cm=165000 cm

165000 cm=1220×165000 revolutions

165000 cm=750 revolutions

Thus, the wheel will make 750 revolutions to travel 1.65 km.
