Let the larger no. be $X$ and the smaller one be $X - 7$
then $,$
$6 (X - 7) + X = 77$ --------------------- $(g i v e n)$
$\Rightarrow 6 X - 42 + X = 77$
$\Rightarrow 7 X - 42 = 77$
$i . e .,$ $X = 17$
Now $,$ putting the value of $X$ in given equation $,$ we get
$i . e .,$ $x - 7 = y$
$\Rightarrow y = 17 - 7$
$\Rightarrow y = 10$
