Solution

A discount of 40% on Rs. 1000
=> (40*1000)/100
=> 40000/100
=> 400 ---------------> 1

Two successive discounts of 30% and 10% on Rs. 1000

1000 = 30% discount
=> 70% * 1000
=> 70 * 1000 / 100
=> 70000 / 100
=> 700 ----------------> 2

Then, 700 = 10% discount
=> 90% * 700
=> 90 * 700 / 100
=> 63000 / 100
=> 630 ------------------> 3

Total discount in (eq:1) = 400

Total discount in (eq:2 and eq:3) = 1000 - 630 = 370

Finally, the difference = 400 - 370 = 30

so correct option is c.
