The difference between reflection of light from a plane mirror and total internal reflection of light from a prism is:
The image formed is sharper with prism as compared to a plane mirror
In case of a prism, a sharp image is obtained due to total internal reflection where the entire light energy is reflected back into the denser medium. Whereas in the case of a plane mirror, part of the light energy is refracted or absorbed. Hence, the image is not as sharp as in case of the prism, and multiple images can be produced if the mirror is thick.
