The difference of two number is 10. when two times the number first number is subtracted to the second number, the resultant number is 17. Find the numbers.

The correct option is D -7 and -3
Let the number be x and y
first equation written as
xy=10 ----- (1)
second equation written as
2xy=17 ----- (2)
Form equation (1)
Put the value of x in equation (2)
2(10+y)y=17
20+2y=17
y=1720
y=3
Substitute the value of y=3 in equation (1)
x(3)=10
x=103
x=7
Therefore the numbers are 7 and -3
