Form equation (1)
Put the value of x in equation (2)
$2(10+y)-y=17$
$20+2y=17$
$y=17-20$
$y=-3$
Substitute the value of $y=-3$ in equation (1)
$x-\left(3\right)=10$
$x=10-3$
$x=7$
Therefore the numbers are 7 and -3
