Cotton is a soft fibre that is obtained from the cotton plant. It is cultivated in black soil and a warm climate.

Cotton is obtained from the fruit of the cotton plant.

1. After fruit maturation, the boll bursts and the cotton seed is covered with cotton fibre.

2. Before cotton can be used to make threads or clothes, first it needs to be separated from the cotton seeds around which the cotton fibres are present. This process is called ginning.
Seeds are separated from cotton by combing.
