Messenger RNAs (mRNAs) carry the information for the amino acid sequence of one or more polypeptides specified by a gene or set of genes which is translated into an amino acid sequence of polypeptides. Ribosomal RNAs (rRNAs) are structural and functional part of ribosomes which serve as the site for proteins synthesis. Transfer RNAs (tRNAs) decipher the mRNA information and transfer the appropriate amino acid to a growing polypeptide chain during protein synthesis. Thus, mRNA, tRNA and rRNA are involved in gene expression. The mitochondrial and chloroplast RNA are translated in these organelles only and does not affect the expression of nuclear genes.
