Mouth:
The digestive system of frogs begins from the mouth and ends at the cloaca.
Mouth is an opening which leads into the oral cavity or buccal cavity.
Buccal cavity:
The roof of the buccal cavity consists of teeth not used for mastication as the prey is swallowed whole. It has a large bilobed muscular tongue which is free behind and fixed in the front. The buccal cavity leads to the oesophagus or food pipe.
Oesophagus:
Short muscular tube that leads into the stomach.
Stomach:
Stomach is wide and slightly curved, contains the gastric glands that help in digestion of proteins.
Intestine:
The first part of the intestine is duodenum and then ileum. The ileum has many folds on the inner surface to increase the area for absorption.
Rectum:
The ileum leads to the rectum.
Cloaca:
The last part of the rectum is cloaca where undigested food is present.
Cloacal aperture:
The aperture of the cloaca that opens to the outside of the body is called cloacal aperture.
