The length, breadth, and height of a book are smaller and can be measured with a centimeter scale easily.
The dimensions of a room are greater than a book and can be measured flexibly with a meter rod.
Hence, dimensions of least length objects are measured in centimeters and greater lengths can be measured in meters.
