The dimensions of a cuboid are in the ratio 4:3:1 and it's total surface area is 950cm^2 . Find the dimensions

Open in App
Solution

TSA= 2(lb+hl+bh)

dimensions of the given cubiod:

l= 4x

b=3x

h=1x

TSA of the given cubiod = 2(4x * 3x + 1x * 4x + 3x * 1x)

= 2( 12x2 + 4x2 + 3x2 )

= 2 * 19x2

=38x2

TSA of the given cubiod = 950 cm2

950 cm2 = 38x2

950/38= x2

25=x2

root of 25 = x

5=x

therefore, the dimensions are

l= 4x=4*5= 20cm

b=3x= 3*5=15cm

h=1x=1*5=5cm
