The correct option is B 5 Ω
Voltage drop across diode VD=0.5 V
Maximum power rating of diode P=100 mW=100×103 W
Source voltage Vs=1.5 V
As power across diode is P=V2DRD
The resistance of diode
RD=0.52100×103=2.5 Ω
Current through diode ;
ID=VDRD=0.52.5=0.2 A
Total resistance of the circuit =VSID=1.50.2=7.5 Ω
Total resistance =R+RD
7.5=R+2.5
R=5 Ω
