The correct option is A 5 Ω
Voltage drop across diode, VD=0.5V

Maximum power rating of diode, P=100mW=100×103W

Source voltage, Vs=1.5V

The resistance of diode,

RD=V2PP=0.52100×103=2.5Ω

And

Current in diode,

ID=VDRD=0.52.5=0.2Ω

Therefore, Total resistance in circuit,

R=VsID=1.50.2=7.5Ω

And,

Value of series resistor = Total resistance of the circuit Resistance of diode

=7.52.5=5Ω
