Solution

The correct option is D it does not carry any charge
The discovery of neutron came very late because it does not carry any charge.
Neutron was discovered by Chadwick.

To overcome the failure of the proton-electron hypothesis, Rutherford, in 1920, proposed the existence of neutral particles made from a close combination of proton and electron. He named it a neutron.

In 1932, Lord Chadwick proved the existence of neutrons by bombarding lighter elements (boron and beryllium) with alpha particles which resulted in the emission of highly penetrating neutral radiation.

Hence, the correct option is D.
