Question

The displacement at a point due to two waves are y1=sin(500πt)andy2=2sin(506πt). The result due to their superposition will be

Open in App
Solution

Superimposed wave will be 6 beats per second

Intensity relation between maximum and minimum would be 9

f1 = 500

f2 = 506

Beat frequency= 506 - 500 = 6

Maximum intensity= 4+2 = 6= 6^2 =36

Minimum intensity= 4-2 = 2=2^2=4

Ratio=9

Superposition is a time where these two waves will collide or summed up.
