The S.I unit of distance is metre(m). For measuring large distances, metre is not a convenient unit. So, we define a larger unit of length, called kilometre (km). Since the distance between Delhi and Mumbai is large, kilometre can be used to express the distance. Other units like centimetre and decametre are so small to express this big distance.
