Solution

There is a mistake in the question , distance between sun and earth is not 180,000 miles. It is 92.96 million miles.
ie, 149.6 million km , slightly equal to 1,50,000,000 km

1 mile = 1.60934 km
1 m/s = 3.6 km/h

distance between sun and earth : 1,50,000,000 km
light speed : 3,00,000 km/h

to find the time that light reaches earth,
1,50,000,000/ 3,00,000 = 500 hr = 500/60 = 8.33 minutes
