The correct option is A $15 m$
In right $△ A B E$
$A B^{2} = B E^{2} + A E^{2}$
$A E^{2} = A B^{2} - B E^{2}$
$= 17^{2} - 8^{2}$
$= 289 - 64$
$= 225$
$∴ A E = \sqrt{225}$
