Solution

Step-I:Given

Distance between upper and lower fixed points = 80cm

Number of divisions between upper and lower fixed points =100

Mercury level rises to a height=10.4cm

Step-II:Calculation

1 .Length for 1C0=80cm100C0=0.8cm

2.Temperature for 10.4cm=10.4×1C00.8=13C0

3.This temperature on the Fahrenheit scale.

C100=F-32180

13100=F-32180

13×18=10F-320

F=55.4

Step-III:Answer

  1. temperature on Celsius scale is 13C0
  2. Temperature on the Fahrenheit scale is F=55.4
