DNA is made of sequence of bases. Such sequence is also called as 'genome sequence'. For any particular protein, the genome sequence undergoes transcription. Transcription is copying of genome sequence in the form of messenger RNA (mRNA). Such mRNA is translated to amino acid sequence by ribosome. Then this amino acid sequence is modified to form a specific protein. This process is very sensitive to change in bases. If the base in a genome sequence is changed then, there are very less chances of making the similar protein. If the changed base is making any specific bonds then similar protein cannot be made.
