Solution

The correct option is C The difference in number of books sold by shop A and shop B is not much.
For Shop 1:

Median = 18
Median of lower half (Q1) = 16
Median of upper half(Q3) = 20
IQR = Q3-Q1
= 20-16
= 4

For shop 2:

Median = 20
Median of lower half (Q1) = 18
Median of upper half(Q3) = 22
IQR = Q3-Q1
= 22-18
= 4
Here,
IQR(beach A) = IQR(beach B)

When two data distributions have similar variabilities, we can compare them by writing the difference in the measures of center as a multiple of the measure of variability.
So,
Difference in median = 20 - 18 = 2
IQR = 4
Ratio of difference in the median to IQR for the given data = 0.5

Since, 0.55 < 2 the difference in number of books sold by shop A and shop B is not much.
