Question

The driving wheel of a locomotive engine is 2.1 m radius. Find the distance covered when it has made 8000 revolution

Open in App
Solution

Given radius, r=2.1 m

Circumference of the wheel =2πr

=2×227×(2.1)

=13.2 m

Hence distance covered for 1 revolution = circumference of the wheel =13.2 m

Therefore distance covered for 8000 revolutions

=13.2×8000=105600 m=105.6 km [1 km=1000 m]
