The human excretory system comprises of the following structures: 2 kidneys, 2 ureters, 1 urinary bladder, and 1 urethra.
Kidneys are the main organ of the human excretory system. The functional unit of a kidney is called the nephron. The elastic and flexible organ in the human excretory system is the urinary bladder which stores urine temporarily before it is expelled out through the process of urination. The urinary bladder is a pear-shaped muscular sac which is capable of expanding as urine gets collected in it.
There is one ureter that comes out of each kidney. The ureter is a thin muscular tube that carries urine from the kidneys to the bladder.
