Let Q amount of charge be transferred across the cross-section of the tube.
Given:
Current through the discharge tube, I = 2 μA = 2 × 10–6 A
Time taken to transfer charge, t = 5 mins = 300 s
We know:
Q = It
∴ Q = 2 × 10–6 × 300 = 6× 10–4 C
