Solution

The correct option is C ^i+^j/2
E=Esin(Kzωt)(^i+^j)
^E=^i+^j12+12
^E=^i+^j2
unit vector in the direction of the magnetic field where sin(kzωt) is positive will be in same plane and perpendicular to ^E
unit vector =1x21+y21(x1^i+y1^j)
Both vector are perpendicular to each other hence dot product will be zero.
12x1x21+y21+12y1x21+y21=0
x1=y1
or y1=x1
unit vector =1x21+x12(x1^ix1^j)or1y21+y12(y1^i+y1^j)=12x21(x1(^i^j))or=12y21(y1(^i+^j))=12(^i^j)or=12(^i+^j)
But for ^i^j2,sin=ve so this will not possible
Hence ^i+^j2 is correct answer.
