When an electron present in the N=4 shell of H atom, then it can make a transition to K=1 shell or L=2 shell or M=3 shell of the atom. Now if it makes a transition to K shell of H atom, then it will result in ultraviolet transmission lines (Lyman series). If the electron jumps to L shell, then it will result in visible spectral emission (Balmer series). If the electron jumps to M shell of H atom, then it will result in infrared band (Paschen series).
