The correct option is B 2, 1

More stable the configuration higher is its ionisation enthalpy.

(i) We know that half-filled orbital is more stable than a partially filled orbital. In option (2) 2p-orbital is half-filled, thus it has the highest IE₁.

(ii) After the removal of 1e⁻ from each of the following the option (1) and (4) attains the stable noble gas configuration (of helium and neon respectively) but the removal of e⁻ from 1s² requires more energy than in the case of 2p⁶ because 2p is in higher energy level. Thus, option (1) has the highest IE₂.

Hence, option B is correct.
