Question

The electrons have practically ________ mass as compared to the mass of nucleus.

Solution

  • Mass of an electron= 9.1 ×10-28 g
  • Mass of a proton= 1.672 ×10-24 g
  • Mass of a neutron= 1.674 ×10-24 g

Nucleus consists of protons and neutrons which are heavier in weight than electrons. In comparison to nucleus, the weight of electrons is very small or negligible.

Therefore, the electrons have practically negligible mass as compared to the mass of nucleus.
