Elements in group have this behaviour. That is due to the same number of valence electron they have same properties. For ex., Li,Na,K,Rb,Cs have same properties as they have ns1 electrons. Similarly if you take halgoens F,Cl,Br,I they show same properties as they have 7 valence electrons.
