Lindlar's catalyst is a palladium catalyst (Pd/CaCO3) deliberately poisoned with lead [(Pb(OAc)2], which is used to reduce alkynes to Z-alkenes.

Here, (b) has a chiral centre and is optically active. After treatment with Lindlar's catalyst, the product formed also retained its chirality. E and Z isomers are taken as different substituents.
