For the short-wavelength line of the series terminating at n=2n=2, a transition must take place from n=∞n=∞ state to n=2n=2 state. For this,

ΔE = 0 - (-5.30) = 5.30 eV

λ = 12400 / ΔE (eV)

= 12400 / 5.30

= 2339 Å
