Solution

The correct option is A 8 Kcal.
Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is a nucleotide. It has two terminal phosphates linked to first (alpha) phosphate by high energy acid anhydride bond and alpha phosphorous linked to pentose sugar by ester bond. The terminal acid anhydride bonds are high energy bonds. It is generally accepted that one molecule of ATP provides 7.3 kcal per mole (approx 8 kcals) energy when hydrolyzed to ADP.
