The energy used in phosphorylation comes from photons. The process is hence termed
Photophosphorylation
Photophosphorylation is a biochemical process that involves the addition of phosphate to an organic compound. Few examples are, addition of phosphate group to ADP to form ATP, an addition of phosphate group to glucose to form glucose -6- phosphate. When this phosphorylation is coupled with photons, energy coming from light, it is called as photophosphorylation.
