When the entry of pollen tube to the ovule is through micropylar end, it is called porogamy. In chalazogamy (or basigamy), pollen tube enters the ovule by the chalazal end. If the pollen tube enters through the integuments it is called mesogamy.

Even though the pollen tube can enter the ovule through all the abovesaid three routes, it enters the embryo sac only through the micropylar end.
