(i) above equation is equivalent to

¨x+cm˙x+Smx=F0mcosωt

ωn=Sm=100=10 rad/s
(system is at resonance)

(ii) 2ξωn=cm=1

ξ=12ωn=120=0.05=5%

(iii) Magnification factor (MF)=12ξ,

ω=ωn

MF=10

(iv)F0m=1,Sm=100

F0S=1100

So amplitude for resonance is given by,

A=F0S2ξ=0.1 m
