The correct option is B pair of a lines

Let L=(x2)2+y

M=(x+2)2+y
L+M=4 .....(1)

L2M2=8x

Dividing L+M

LM=2x .....(2)

Adding, (1) and (2),

we get 2L=2(x2)

squaring, L2=(x2)2

or (x2)2+y2=(x2)2

y2=0
Thus the equation represents a pair of coincident lines.
Actually the given equation represents the line segment.
