Solution

The correct option is C Colloidal
According to Fischer, 1894, protoplasm or living matter is a polyphasic crystallo-colloidal complex that possesses all the properties of life and is found inside living cells. It was called Sarcode by Dujardin. The term protoplasm was coined by Purkinje in 1839. New protoplasm develops inside the older one. Protoplasm is capable of growth and division. Density measurements have shown that it is heavier than water and its viscosity is 2-10 time than that of water. Protoplasm is slimy semifluid having differentiated regions like membranes, organelles etc. Major part is colourless and transparent. It is selectively permeable and maintains its own chemical pool different from that of external environment. This is due to selective permeability. Due to presence of external and internal membranes, protoplasm does not dissolve in water.
