In a soda-water bottle, gas is dissolved in liquid at high very pressure and at exists at an equilibrium with the liquid till the bottle remains closed.
There is equilibrium between the molecules in the gaseous state and the molecules dissolved in the liquid under pressure.
As soon as the bottle is opened, the pressure decreases and the dissolved gas escapes from the bottle all of a sudden resulting in fizz, which you might have noticed while opening a bottle.
