Solution

The correct option is A ATP from ADP and Pi
According to the chemiosmotic mechanism of ATP synthesis, the excess energy of electrons in electron transport synthesis (ETS) is used for ATP synthesis by combining ADP and inorganic phosphate. The transfer of electrons between various carriers of ETS is coupled with the pumping of protons across the thylakoid membrane in chloroplast and across the inner mitochondrial membrane in mitochondria. The pumping of protons across these membranes results in the generation of an electrochemical gradient of protons, which is the main driving force for ATP synthesis. The ATP synthesis in chloroplast is called as photophosphorylation, while ATP synthesis in mitochondria is called as oxidative phosphorylation.
