Excretory system in leeches consists of nephridia. The nephridiopore is the excretory orifice of a nephridium. There are seventeen pairs of nephridia, one pair each from 6th to 22nd segments. Thus the first five segments and the posterior four segments are devoid of nephridia. The anterior six pairs lie in the pre-testicular segments and are called pre-testicular nephridia and the remaining eleven pairs in the testicular segments, are called testicular nephridia.
