The correct option is C 1.5 m
From work energy theorem, the masses stop when total
work done on them is zero.
$W = m g x - \frac{1}{2} k x^{2} - μ m g x = 0 ∴ x = \frac{2 m g}{k} (1 - μ) = \frac{3 m g}{2 k}$
Substituting given values ,
$x = \frac{3 \times 20}{2 \times 20} = 1.5$ m
