Question

The exterior angles, obtained on producing the base of a triangle(side BC) both ways, are 102 and 134. Find the A(in degrees)

Open in App
Solution

Let the triangle be ABC, with 102 formed by extending along B and 134 be formed by extending along C
Thus, A+C=102 (Exterior angle is equal to sum of interior opposite angles)

A+B=134 (Exterior angle is equal to sum of interior opposite angles)
Adding the two equations,
A+A+B+C=236
we know, A+B+C=180 (Sum of angles of a triangle)
Hence, A=236180
A=56
