The external diameter of a cylinder of a cylindrical shaped iron pipe is 25cm and its length is 20cm. If the thickness of the pipe is 1cm. Find the TSA of the pipe.

External radius of the pipe (R) = 12.5 cm height of the pipe (h) = 20 cm thickness of the pipe (w) = 1 cm To find total surface area of the cylinder we have to find the internal radius (r) W = R - r 1 = 12.5 - r r = 12.5 - 1 r = 11 .5 cm Total surface area = 2π(R + r) (R - r + h) = 2π (12.5 + 11.5) (12.5 - 11.5 + 20) = 2 227 (24) (21) = 2 (22) (24) (3) = 3168 cm2
