Farazi movement was a religious movement started by Hazi Shariatullah in 1818 AD to give up un- islamic practices and follow their religious duties. This movement spread in East Bengal (now Bangladesh) and gained huge peasant support. In fact the movement turned out to be a champion of peasant rights (regarding taxes and ownership rights) against Landlords and British rule. After the death of Hazi Shariatullah the movement was carried forward by his son Dudu Miyan.
